2007

A new year in Palermo (better said: another 6 months) has started...

In December we organised a training course on Interreligious dialogue and I was one of the trainers. We had a great team and I enjoyed it a lot. Yet I was very very tired in the end as I was working till 2 AM and didn't get much sleep. But would do it again if I got the chance!

The day after the training course I got up early to catch a train to the airport. 12 hours later I arrived at home, freezing in my summer jacket... yet it did feel like christmas time, at least a lot more than in Palermo. I spent 5 days in Holland, seeing my family and friends. It was a good experience and at times also difficult because it made me realise all that I had left behind in September.

On the 30th of December I made the same journey back, once again with a delayed flight, an organised German airport, a plane full of disorganised Italians and then a bus back home. With a backpack full of food and a winter jacket I arrived at home sweet home.

The next day me and Sarah were invited to dinner at Massimiliano's house, where we celebrated new year with some Erasmus students, Italians and his family. I was really tired and didn't really want to go out a lot, but in the end I was dancing until 4 PM on a square close to my house; really had a good time!

These weeks we're back to work at CE.S.I.E, developing new projects and starting to organise our European exchange program. At home we finally organised and decorated our living room, so now we have another place to relax, read a book or have dinner together.

The new year has made me think a lot about the future; what I want to do here in the remaining months and what I want to do after. I do not have an answer to the first question yet, but I am pretty sure that I want to start a master program in September. The plan is to move back to Holland in July to find a house and to start the Gender & Ethnicity program in September.

But for now I'm still here in Palermo, enjoying life in 2007!
